Hey guys!
I hope you have been well.
Today we talk about healthy hair oils that are within your reach that are bound to kick-start your journey to healthy hair.
Good Hair, is healthy hair; whatever you perceive that to be. Isaiah Mustafa
As I have shared in a previous post that my hair journey has been very fulfilling thanks to research and determination, a wonderful hairdresser and the good Lord!
I incorporated healthy hair oils to my regime so that I can enjoy well-nourished hair and a healthy scalp. Other than that that, I have also seen my hair breaks less thanks to these oils.
COCONUT OIL
Not only does coconut oil smell amazing, but it also has nutrients that your hair can easily absorb.
Coconut oil is considered healthy hair oil because it is rich in vitamin E.
Correct use of coconut oil results to thicker, shiner and of course healthier hair and you will see less breakage as your hair will also be stronger from the roots to the tips.
Thanks to Google, I read that coconut oil also contains Lauric and Capric acid which are said to have amazing antimicrobial powers-whoa! This simply means that it will help make your scalp healthy and prevent dandruff.
Other than just healthy hair, some of us desire length and coconut is also known to promote hair growth. If you have dry hair, try incorporating some coconut oil in your hair regime and thank me later.
EXTRA VIRGIN OLIVE OIL
This is a no brainer. Yes, the same one you use in the kitchen and if you are in Kenya the small Alison one that is about 80-100 Kenya shillings. Yes! That one!
This super healthy hair oil can be used to not only promote healthy hair growth but you can also incorporate in your regime and use it as a moisturizing treatment. I usually apply my normal treatment and after I pour some olive oil onto my hands and massage it all over my hair. Massaging your scalp is said to promote circulation and better circulation enables faster new hair growth.
Olive oil has fatty acids (thank you Teacher Google) so when you apply it on your hair; it coats the shaft of your hair thus protecting it from damaging agents such as flat irons or hair dyes ensuring that your hair is healthy!
CASTOR OIL
I stumbled on castor oil albeit by mistake. I once went to have my eyebrows trimmed and the lady had a field day and left me looking dreadful! I researched on ways to make my brows grow back faster and stumbled upon castor oil.
I figured since it worked on my eyebrows it may as well work on my hair. And it did!
I tested it out on my hairline first and noticed some improvement.
I later came to learn that castor oil stimulates your scalp and in this way encourages new and healthy hair growth.
I have seen other people use it to seal their ends as it protects split ends. It is also readily available and very inexpensive I must add.
A little science behind its effectiveness is that us has both antibacterial and anti fungal properties that help your hair fight dandruff and scalp infections and its ricinoleic acid content helps increase circulation to the scalp and improve hair growth. The antioxidants in castor oil also support the keratin in hair and help make hair stronger, smoother and less frizzy.
As you can see these oils are well within your reach and are also very affordable. Quick side note though is that everything should be done in moderation. Just because the oil is healthy does not mean slather it mercilessly on your hair.
Happy Wednesday my loves and have a great day ahead!

When you pass through the waters, I will be with you;and through the rivers, they will not overflow you.
When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned, and flame will not scorch you.
