Wassssup my people!
I am very excited about today’s post! It was one of those that pushed me out of my comfort zone. I know you are wondering ala? Have you ever wondered how to get away with outfits of mixed textures? Well, so did I. Working this into my wardrobe came by mistake when trying out clothes after a day at the mall.
Playing dress up starts at age 5 and truly never ends: Kate Spade
The combination looked so amazing, I was like yeah! Mixed textures 1: Ordinary 0. My style has and still is somewhat on the safe side but this look got me thinking how simple it is to just combine what you already have and make the most of your outfits.
When I got this leather jacket, my first thought was to wear it with a pair of jeans of jeans of course! But when i put on my knit skirt, it dawned on me that nothing spectacular happens in your comfort zone.
I used to think mixing textures was odd but that is because there is a very thin line but when done correctly it can bring a new depth in your outfits and give you more ways to make the most out of your outfits.
I wore the grey pencil skirt with blue knit sweater that has suddenly become my go to! I paired with orange pumps for a pop of colour and an envelop clutch purse, that Mr. Q has successfully misplaced!
I will be trying other mixed textures combinations such as wool and lace, chiffon and leather and see how these come out.
When I thought of the idea of combining leather and knits, I was thinking of a biker-meets-mary poppins kind of scenario. Like a ying and yang? Does this make sense? Maybe the pictures Wamwiri took will help.

Many, Yahweh, my God, are the wonderful works which you have done, and your thoughts which are toward us. They can’t be declared back to you.
If I would declare and speak of them, they are more than can be numbered.
